6th Annual Georgia Legislative Policy Forum is Oct. 15;
Register By Sept. 4 to Receive Early Bird Discount

Georgia_LogoEarly Bird Registration ($100) is open until Friday, September 4 for the Sixth Annual Georgia Legislative Policy Forum on Thursday, October 15 at the Renaissance Waverly Atlanta. 

Don’t miss this exciting daylong event (8 a.m.-3 p.m.), which focuses on educating policy-makers about Georgia-specific solutions that advance economic opportunity in the state. This year, the theme is “Wisdom, Justice and Opportunity,” (from the Georgia state motto, “Wisdom, Justice, and Moderation”). State and national experts will discussing opportunities for Georgia’s workforce, education and health care. 

Hosted annually by the Georgia Public Policy Foundation and the Conservative Policy Leadership Institute, this event is described by legislators as the “opening act to the legislative session” and draws hundreds of Georgians – legislators, legislative staff, government affairs consultants, grassroots activists and other interested citizens.

The keynote speaker is Arthur Brooks, president of the American Enterprise Institute, which The Wall Street Journal calls “Washington’s hottest think tank.” His new book, “The Conservative Heart: How to Build a Fairer, Happier, and More Prosperous America,” is described by George Will as, “A thinking person’s primer for a conservative politics of human flourishing.”

Opportunity Works: Reconciling the Safety Net and Personal Responsibility

  • Logan Pike, co-author of the Heartland Institute’s “2015 Welfare Reform Report Card”
  • Robert Doar, Morgridge Fellow in Poverty Studies at the American Enterprise Institute, former commissioner of the New York City Human Resources Administration, the nation’s largest local social services agency
  • The Georgia Works story, an Atlanta-based program that accepts no government money as it restores chronically homeless men into productive, working citizens

Equity and Opportunity in Education: The Road to the American Dream

  • Sen. Scott Hammond, public school teacher and sponsor of Nevada’s Education Savings Account legislation
  • Dr. Ben Scafidi, director of the Education Economics Center in the Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University.
