Too much of the world seems intent on taking a dark turn toward the past.

A little perspective every now and then can be a helpful thing. Particularly when that perspective arrives right before a holiday dedicated to gratitude.

We are not all descendants of American slavery, but to be an American is to have inherited its legacy, and its lessons.
