Foundation Named to 2017 Global ‘Best Independent Think Tanks’ List

Atlanta – The Georgia Public Policy Foundation has been named one of the world’s “Best Independent Think Tanks” in the 2017 Global Go-To Think Tank Index Report, compiled annually by the University of Pennsylvania’s Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP).

The Foundation joins its sister think tank, the Texas Public Policy Foundation, as the only two U.S. state free-market think tanks named in the “Best Independent Think Tanks” ranking (page 181), released this month.

“What’s especially significant is that the Foundation is ranked among organizations with much larger budgets,” said Benita Dodd, vice president of the organization.

“We’re proud of what we do for Georgia public policy, its taxpayers and policymakers. And this proves what we tell supporters: The Georgia Public Policy Foundation offers the best bang for your buck. We give an impressive return on investment and we’re an excellent steward of our supporters’ contributions.”

The Foundation, established in 1991, was headed until recently by Kelly McCutchen, who stepped down in December to become executive director of  McCutchen spent nearly 25 years as an executive at the  Foundation, the last seven as president and CEO.

Dodd attributed the Foundation’s reputation to the credibility and integrity of its leadership over the decades.

“The Foundation achieved this honor by being accessible, credible, reasonable and trustworthy on its facts and policy ideas,” she said.

“Our mantra of ‘policy over politics,’ our mission to change Georgians’ lives for the better, and our willingness to work well with others  – without regard as to who gets the credit – no doubt contributed to this unexpected and welcomed accolade.”
