Foundation Names Director of Policy and Research

Christopher Denson is the Georgia Public Policy Foundation’s new Director of Policy and Research.

Atlanta – Christopher Denson has joined the Georgia Public Policy Foundation as Director of Policy and Research.

Denson brings to the Foundation nearly a decade of experience in the healthcare arena in Georgia, most recently as Director of Outreach at HCA Memorial Health, a 612-bed Level 1 trauma center serving a 32-county region in Southeast Georgia and South Carolina.

Before that, he was Manager of Health Policy Consulting for Leavitt Partners in Washington, D.C., and Director of Advisory Services for Hometown Health, a multi-state rural hospital trade association in the Southeastern United States and Iowa.

A native of Douglasville, Ga., Denson graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in Politics and was a member of Princeton’s Varsity Football team. He earned his Master’s in Public Health (Health Policy and Management) at the University of Georgia after launching his career as a staff member in the Office of U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, managing constituent services and a legislative portfolio of Armed Services and Veterans’ Affairs issues.

Denson is a member of the Zell Miller Leadership Institute Class of 2019 and has served as a volunteer supporting nonprofit delivery of healthcare to uninsured residents in South Georgia.

“When Chris joined the Foundation at the beginning of March, we had little inkling of the novel coronavirus spread or how opportune the timing would be to bring someone on board to focus solely on policy and research,” said Kyle Wingfield, President and CEO of the Foundation.

“The coronavirus outbreak, Georgia’s response to it and its effect on Georgians’ future economic prospects all provide an opportunity for the Foundation to consider and offer commonsense ideas. Chris brings a range of experiences and skills to the table that will help the Foundation corral our Senior Fellows’ expertise and hone ideas that keep Georgia moving forward.”
