Education, Education, Education: 3 Upcoming Foundation Events!
Atlanta – The world is changing fast, but we seem to be standing still when it comes to educating our children. How do we personalize the learning experience? How do we enhance academic performance? Is the solution more money, more teachers or smaller class sizes? Will technology replace the teacher?
The questions are numerous. To help answer them, the Georgia Public Policy Foundation has scheduled a trifecta of national leaders in education innovation to keynote Foundation events over the next three months:
May 23: Sajan George, Atlanta-based national education entrepreneur and turnaround expert, keynotes, “The Future of Education, a Leadership Breakfast. 8 a.m. at Cobb County’s Georgian Club. George is founder and CEO of Matchbook Learning, a unique blended model of school launched in 2011 to initially target the nation’s bottom 5 percent of under-performing public schools and to eventually deliver blended learning solutions across a wide range of schools and students.The deadline is Tuesday to register. June 6: Michael B. Horn, co-founder and executive director of the education practice at the Clayton Christensen Institute, keynotes the Foundation’s June 6 Leadership Breakfast, “Customize The Class.” 8 a.m. at Cobb County’s Georgian Club. Horn will share how innovation can disrupt the factory-based education system and transform learning into a student-centric approach where all students can achieve their full potential. Mark your Calendar! July 11: Jay Greene, national school choice expert, joins the Foundation on a road trip to Athens, Ga., for a noon Policy Briefing Luncheon to celebrate the seventh annual Friedman Legacy for Freedom Day. The seventh annual celebration marks what would have been the 101st birthday of the late Milton Friedman, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics and a longtime contributor to free market causes who focused on education choice. Last year the Foundation celebrated in Gainesville, one of more than 100 Friedman Legacy Day gatherings in 44 countries, all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Details soon on the Athens venue!
