Foundation Celebrates Friedman Legacy for Freedom Day
July 10 in Macon with School Choice Expert Dr. Ben Scafidi

Atlanta – The Georgia Public Policy Foundation takes its annual Friedman Legacy for Freedom Day on the road again this year, this time celebrating the birthday of Nobel Prize winner Milton Friedman with a luncheon event in Macon on Thursday, July 10.

The event, which begins at noon at Macon’s Idle Hour Country Club, is keynoted by Dr. Ben Scafidi, the state’s foremost education expert, a professor of economics and director of the Economics of Education Policy Center at Georgia College & State University.

Dr. Scafidi is a Senior Fellow with the Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice and the Georgia Public Policy Foundation and is the director of education policy for the Georgia Community Foundation Inc. His research has focused on education and urban policy. Previously, he was chair of the Georgia Charter Schools Commission, education policy advisor to Gov. Sonny Perdue, on the staff of both of Gov. Roy Barnes’ Education Reform Study Commissions, and an expert witness for the state of Georgia in school funding litigation. The Milledgeville, Ga., resident received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Virginia and his B.A. in economics from the University of Notre Dame.

Friedman Legacy for Freedom Day is an annual international celebration marking the birthday of the late Milton Friedman, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics and a longtime champion of free market causes and school choice. Friedman’s 102nd birthday would have been July 31. This year, more than 10,000 people at more than 100 events round the world will gather to recognize his life, legacy and ideas.

This event will cost $30 to attend. Register online by Tuesday, July 8, at http://bit.ly/1hGJkJX(Difficulty registering? E-mail .)
